This is a very rare 1932 Ford Model 18 Cabriolet. My late father acquired this car when he was 18 years old in 1962. We still have the original logbook with handwritten entries. The latest build of the car was completed in the late 1990’s with very little use after that. Original steel body with Dickie (rumble) seat. Steel running boards and floor with fibreglass fenders. Original steel bonnet and louvred side panels. Original but modified chassis. Original hood frame. 1964 Ford V8 289 small block engine, Edelbrock 2122 performer plus camshaft kit, Ford cast iron 4 barrel intake manifold and 600 CFM Holley vacuum secondary with manual choke. Jaguar E-type 4.2/Series 2 gearbox – 4 speed, all synchromesh. Jaguar Mk2 3.8 Salisbury 4HA rear axle. Powr-Lok diff (LSD) as standard. Front end is Mk2 Jaguar. Servo assisted disc brakes all round. Recommissioning includes: Rebuilt carb, new air filter, water pump, hoses, electric fan, oil and filter, petrol pump, plugs and leads, HEI distributor, water temp sender, clutch master and slave cylinders, gearbox and diff oil, steering column UJ. The body and chassis are solid and very presentable. The interior bench seat has no rips or tears. The wind down windows operate well. The exterior door handles are rigid with solenoids fitted operated from inside the cab. All interior clocks and gauges work. The engine runs smooth and shows 50 psi oil pressure at tickover. The clutch is light and the gearchange smooth. Brakes work well. All the lights and horn work as do the wipers and washers. The car is 92 years old with running gear that is 50 – 60 years old. This is not a modern car with a fibreglass body. It is an original steel 1932 hot-rod, built with all the right period parts from the 1960s.
