September 1981 saw the launch of the Ford Escort RS1600i to homologate the popular hatchback for Touring Car racing, and its success resulted in a total of 8,659 cars being built against a planned production run of 5,000.

This left hand drive example from France has only had one owner registered from new which is substantiated by the French log book, which it comes with. This iconic and rare sports hatch is presented in Diamond White with grey cloth interior. We are informed it is totally original and has not been upgraded in any way from when it left the factory.
