FORD ESCORT MK. I 1600GT (BDA POWERED) - £Auction
The particular example was completely restored by our vendor's uncle in South Africa, who wanted to build something as close as he could to an RS1600, so the original engine was swapped for a beautiful 1600cc BDA engine, this specific BDA looks like a piece of jewellery in the engine bay. The engine is comprised of an AX block, steel crank, Cosworth rods and pistons, a pair of Weber 40 side draught carburettors with custom ram tubes, electronic ignition and a custom 4-2-1 ceramic coated manifold. Power is transferred through a Type 9 five-speed gearbox and the original BorgWarner differential. This Escort has been restored to a very impressive standard, the paintwork and brightwork gleam and the interior has been trimmed to a good standard, with the addition of some period bucket seats. This Escort looks like great value, especially considering the engine alone would likely cost in the region of £20,000 to replicate! Consigned by Fraser Smith
