Designed by Pio Manzu, the Fiat 127 was introduced as a Supermini in 1971 replacing the Fiat 850 in the range. The 127 was an instant success, winning the European Car of the Year award for 1972 The updated Series 2 was launched in 1977, featuring a restyled front and rear, a new dashboard, Larger rear side windows and the option of a 1049cc engine.
