DUCATI PANTAH - £3,500

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Motorcycle Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025 on Sunday the 9th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Ducati increased the bore from 499cc to 583cc to give the already popular 500 Pantah longer legs and more go, and in 1982 introduced the 600 version of their mid-sized sports bike. The 1984 600SL was a significant development for the marque, pioneering the use of a Desmodromic L-twin engine with a toothed rubber belt to drive the cams, a design that laid the foundation for future generations of Ducati models It was powered by a 583cc, air-cooled, 90-degree L-twin, four-stroke engine, fuelled through a pair of 36mm Dell'Orto PHM carburettors, and offering 61bhp and 33lb.ft of torque enabling a top speed of around 121mph .  The steel trellis frame featured Marzocchi suspension, Brembo discs and a hydraulic clutch, rare in period Both the 500 and 600SL Pantahs were listed through to 1984, by which time the 600 was painted in the Mike Hailwood Replica colours of red, with green and white stripes or, as here, in bright red with blue details Previously owned by his friend, this striking example was purchased by our vendor in 2011 and he immediately sent it to Moto Italia where, at great cost, it was treated to a full engine re-build Upon completion, the bike was run up, but not used and went on display in our vendors heated garage, where it has remained ever since. Never used, it will require running-in and some light recommissioning when put back on the road In good all round condition and very well presented having just been fully valeted and detailed Supplied with a current V5C and UK-registered as Historic
