1978 DAIMLER SOVEREIGN 4.2 COUPE - £19,995

Motodrome offer this example of one of our favourite 1970’s classics – a 1978 Daimler Sovereign Coupe (XJC) 4.2 Automatic, finished in oh-so-period Carraige Brown with contrasting leather, and the obligatory black vinyl roof, as they were all originally supplied with. The Daimler version was only produced 1975 to 1977, making this one a very late registered example. These pillarless coupe iterations of the XJ6, whether Jaguar or Daimler badged, have a timeless elegance that Jaguar have rarely replicated before or since, and are effortlessly cool. Correct spec for one of these, with side chrome strips, chrome wheels with Daimler hubcaps, vinyl roof, automatic transmission, power steering, full leather and walnut trim, and electric windows all round. Also fitted with a more modern Blaupunkt stereo. This one has only had 4 previous owners, and the original owner, who bought it from Stratstones, seems to have kept it until 1994, with the second long-term owner having kept it from then until 2018, when it seems to have been restored to the condition you see in the pictures. Odometer reading 5000 miles, which for the avoidance of doubt is 105000. It looks really nice, and it drives beautifully too. On our own website, you’ll find our usual comprehensive walkaround and driving videos, which form part of the description Viewing by prior appointment
