This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025 on Saturday the 8th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Faithfully evoking one of Jaguar’s most celebrated competition cars, this Realm C-Type recreation captures the purity, performance and presence of the 1953 Le Mans winner, yet with the dependability and refinement of modern mechanicals. The original C-Type – or XK120C as it was initially known – was born of Jaguar’s ambition to conquer Le Mans. With its aerodynamic body designed by Malcolm Sayer and the race-proven XK straight-six engine beneath, it did just that, winning the 24 Hours outright at its first attempt in 1951 and again in 1953. Today, genuine C-Types are the preserve of museums and private collections, but for those who yearn to experience the sensation of that era’s racing greats, the Realm interpretation has long been well regarded. Completed and first registered following its IVA in November 2022, this example presents well in Ford Midnight Blue with a brown leather and aluminium interior. Beneath the GRP bodywork sits Jaguar’s 4.2-litre XK engine sourced from a Series 3 XJ6, which was fully stripped and rebuilt with new main and big-end bearings and carefully set valve clearances. Twin HS8 SU carburettors deliver crisp throttle response and an unmistakable straight-six soundtrack through a correct-style C-Type silencer. A reconditioned five-speed gearbox is matched to a 3.07 final drive – a desirable and more relaxed setup than the period 3.09 unit. Jaguar-derived disc brakes front and rear, an XJ6 independent rear suspension assembly, and carefully chosen components such as a Facet fuel pump, Filter King regulator and aluminium fuel tank complete the well-sorted mechanical specification. The cockpit, trimmed in brown leather, offers an evocative blend of craftsmanship and simplicity, featuring supportive seats, matching transmission tunnel and gear gaiter, an aluminium dashboard with leather-lined glove box and a 16-inch Mota-Lita wooden steering wheel. Practical details include a battery isolator, a fuel cut-off switch and discreet USB charging point. The car was most recently serviced in June 2025 and remains in excellent condition throughout, showing only the lightest patina commensurate with the 6,000 miles covered since completion. Registered as a ‘2022 Realm C-Type’ with an MOT valid until June 2026, this is a car that is equally at home on a twisting B-road as it is idling outside a country pub, turning heads wherever it goes.
