BMW 635 CSI MOTORSPORT EDITION - £Auction

This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The Iconic Sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show 2025 on Saturday the 8th of November, NEC, Birmingham, B40 1NT. Towards the end of the E24's life, BMW introduced a limited edition (factory code Package 129) for the UK-market. Based on the 635 Highline, they were known as the 635CSi Motorsport Edition and equipped with most of the visible performance features of the M635. The comprehensive specification included Shadowline exterior trim, electric sunroof, rear-seat head restraints, tri-colour M-sport labels, graduated tinted screen, memory electric seats, air-conditioning, electric mirrors, headlight wipers, rear spoiler, leather-trimmed steering wheel, and a rear window blind. The interior featured hand-stitched Nappa leather on the seats, door panels, centre console, glove box, roof lining, sun visors, door pillars, upper door trim, and dashboard. Only 181 'Motorsport' cars were produced for the UK-market and they were only available in three colours. This particular UK-supplied example is one of 60 finished in Misano Red with a black full leather interior and had covered a mere 76,776 miles at the time of cataloguing. Supplied new by Central BMW Birmingham in August 1989, the car is accompanied by a very good service history including 24 dealer stamps in the service booklet, originally by various BMW franchise dealers and more recently by respected BMW specialists. In addition, a complete handbook pack is present along with its original spare keys, various service invoices and a complete set of old MOT Certificates dating back to its first test in 1992. Also on file are three original 'Bill of Sale' documents, the oldest at 18,200 miles in August 1992 when this Motorsport Edition was sold by Mole Valley Motor Group in Chessington, Surrey to a Mr Bush for £23,250. In May 1996, a Mr Donohoe purchased the vehicle from London Garages in Twyford, Berks at 41,214 miles and in 2004, after eight years of ownership, he relocated the vehicle to Spain. Copies of correspondence relating to this transfer are on file. It only covered some 4,000 miles during this seven year period before returning to the UK in August 2011 and being reunited with its original registration, G101 MUJ. The vehicle was then sold to its long term owner before joining our private vendor's stable a few years ago. Under current ownership, a set of 17" BBS-style split rims have been fitted (original wheels included) along with adjustable suspension and brake upgrades ensuring that the car drives as well as it looks. G101 MUJ is a beautifully correct, well detailed, mainly original vehicle accompanied by an excellent history file and we invite and encourage all interested parties to come and see this rare Misano Red, 'Motorsport' 635 for themselves at the NEC. Please note that the Cherished Registration number shown in our images does not form part of the sale.
