This beautiful E39 was my Dad’s pride and joy. He purchased it from Ocean BMW at the beginning of 2001, so was the second owner - the first one being an airline pilot. My Dad was a retired engineer and always fastidious with his cars, so this car has wanted for nothing. My parents had another car they used generally, so this BMW has led a very sheltered life, always garaged, very rarely driven in wet conditions and regularly serviced by Ocean BMW. This level of care has resulted in a car that is in exceptional condition; bodywork and interior are beautifully preserved, parcel shelf is not faded and the common weak spots of corrosion in the jacking points and fuel filler area, are as solid as the day it was made. The legendary straight six is strong, smooth and quiet, and at a shade under 57K; barely run in. Hats off to the original owner who did a superb job of speccing the options which include: manual gearbox, M Sports suspension, M Sports steering wheel and gear knob, rear spoiler, Glacier Green paintwork, Dark Green Montana leather interior, fine wood trim and last but not least, those fabulous two-piece titanium bolted cross spoke BBS forged and cast alloy wheels. I would dearly love to keep this car, as I know how much it meant to my Dad, and the more time I spend with it the more attached I am becoming. But the reality is I don’t have a garage to store it in and Mum wants to free up the space in hers, so sadly it has to go. I’m sure the new owner will treasure this iconic 5 Series.
