From its production in 1921, the Bentley name has remained synonymous with prestige, performance and luxury. The finest Bentleys of the post-war period were designated ‘Continental’; a title which was re-introduced in 1984 in the form of the Bentley Continental Convertible, an example of which from 1991 is available today. The Bentley Continental is powered by a V8 engine incorporating an aluminium-silicon alloy block, aluminium cylinder heads and cast-iron wet cylinder liners; the bore was 4.1" and the stroke 3.9" giving a total of 6.75 litres. Fuel was supplied via a Bosche MK-Motronic fuel injection system, with drive provided via a four-speed automatic GM Hydromatic gearbox and a top speed quoted by Bentley of 131mph.

This stunning Bentley was delivered by Jack Barclay on 10th February 1991 and has been well cared for throughout its 33 years. Early service work was carried out by H. R. Owen and latterly by respected marque specialists, with some significant bills in the history file, including a receipt for £27,909.97 from Cheshire Classic Cars. Finished in Ebony metallic with Parchment interior, piped in black, with black carpets, Piano black woodwork and a black mohair hood. As a later model, this Bentley comes with fuel injection, a great improvement over the carburettor examples. The condition is commensurate with a car that has covered a fraction over 2,000 miles per year and has been lovingly cherished with unblemished paintwork and a sumptuous interior. Convertible motoring is a great experience, combine that with driving one of Crewe’s finest designs it is easy to see why such examples are in high demand.
