ASTON MARTIN VANQUISH - £28,000
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, Online Auction - 9th October on Thursday the 9th of October. Background:The original Vanquish represented a pivotal moment in Aston Martin's modern history. Designed by Ian Callum and launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 2001, it combined hand-built craftsmanship with advanced construction techniques, including a bonded aluminium chassis and composite body panels. Powered by a naturally aspirated 5.9-litre V12 and featuring paddle-shift transmission technology derived from motorsport, it offered performance and presence in equal measure. As the final new model to be assembled at the Newport Pagnell factory, the Vanquish marked the end of an era for the marque and quickly became a modern classic. The Car:Supplied new by Stratstone Aston Martin of Mayfair in late June 2003, this Vanquish was acquired by its sole private owner in October that year when the car was just three months old. A copy of the original invoice confirms the purchase price of £159,000. Finished in Ferrari Grigio Titanio, the car features a highly specified interior with Pacific Blue leather seat outers, light grey inners, Smoke Alcantara headlining, Pacific Blue leather top roll and blue carpets. The steering wheel is trimmed in aluminium and leather, and the factory equipment includes Linn audio and both front and rear parking sensors. The odometer now reads just 22,023 miles and the car benefits from a number of significant maintenance events during its life, including the desirable Vanquish S clutch and ASM pump upgrade carried out by Aston Service London in 2012. However, it should be noted that this car is not currently in road-ready condition. While it will start and move under its own power, it has been in professional storage and not driven since late 2017. As such, recommissioning is advised before any regular use. The tyres are visibly perished and not safe for road use, and all four wheels would benefit from cosmetic refurbishment. No current MOT is in place, and the car has not been presented for testing due to the state of the tyres. Cosmetically, the bodywork presents several areas for attention. There is visible corrosion at each corner of the roof, a known issue on Vanquish models due to their lightweight construction. A light impact to the front nearside bumper has caused grazing and rippling across both front wings, and although the headlights remain undamaged, the bumper will require repainting. Additional light marks are present in various areas and elements of paintwork are likely to be required. Mechanically, the car has not been fully assessed. It will start and engage gears, but it has not undergone road testing since 2017 and therefore no opinion is offered as to its overall mechanical condition. The car is available for viewing near York, where full ramp facilities are available. Recent Service History:• 16/03/2006 at 12,259 miles – 37,500 mile service, rear tyres replaced.
