1967 VOLKSWAGEN BEETLE - £7,500
Due to a relationship breakup I am now selling my lovely 1967 VW Beetle. I have had this car for 18 months and used it as a daily driver. A lot of fun to drive, really turns heads! Noisy and slow, that's how it should be! The bodywork on the car is solid, with only the odd bit of surface rust. Underneath has been painted and looks like a car that's hardly used as commented by the guy who did the MOT. Which reminds me it has around 9 months MOT. There's been a lot of work done on the car in the last 18 months as follows: New coil Refurbished dynamo New starter motor New front wheel bearings New front tyres New distributer Oil changed every 3000 miles or less Stainless steel tail pipes fitted Regular servicing by a vintage VW specialist The car is 53 years old and has been driven daily. It has its faults of course so here goes: The main issue is the dynamo. despite a refurbished one being fitted around a year ago. It has developed a noisy bearing. I'm told by an expert this won't cause any problem and I've run it probably 5000 miles and its not got worse. But it is annoying that its noisy. You may wish to replace that. Most of the glass is old and scratched and a little cloudy in parts (rear window) but not to any degree as to be worrying or dangerous. The chrome is mostly good but some rust has come through in places. The mirrors are the main issue for that, they are cheap to replace however. The gearbox is in full working order but you will need a fair bit of practise if you are not used to old gearboxes! Reverse selection is a real skill! But I get it every time so its really not that bad! Hey that's old cars! The interior is OK but starting to look tatty in places. Theres some wear in the leather and a rip in the rear seat leather. The upholstery could do with a good clean. It is tax and MOT exempt though it does have a current MOT. 2 tone colour scheme looks fab! Whitewall tyres are actually inserts, they are starting to look a bit dirty but are only about 40 quid a full set from eBay (from Turkey). Heating ducts have been removed as often is the case with these cars, as they are a source of body rot. So there's no heating. I've driven the car around 40 miles a day to work and back all through the winter. Just put a coat and hat on! The suspension is lowered. It can be raised again if you like, your local specialist can do that for you. It may look scary but I've gone over many a speed bump and never had any issue. I rather like the way it sits. That's all I can think of but ask away!
