Dinny, the owner, grew up on a farm in Ireland where his family owned a few Land Cruisers. He fell in love with the car as a child and always wanted to get one. The sale of these cars were quite limited in the UK meaning he had to venture to Belgium around two and a half years ago and since then he has restored everything- everyone here at Trade Classics wants to take it on an adventure.
Please watch the Meet the Owner video to see Dinny drive around his local area.
Dinny loves a project he will be selling this off-road brute to focus on his next two projects another Toyota Land Cruiser and an old Range Rover. Good Luck!
We seriously cannot stop comprehending how immaculate this restoration really is from the door panels to the underside of the car it looks really stunning. This surely is an off-road grizzly that will catch the eye at a competition if entered. Please view all the photos in the gallery to really appreciate the excellent condition it is in.
Wheels & Tyres
The car is fitted with 16 black steel wheels, and 7.50-16 Security tyres that are suitable for mud and snow conditions.
During our time with the car we could see no rust or rot visible on the exterior. This is a testament to the restoration efforts by Dinny. All the panels are neatly fitted and it just looks exceptional.
The brown paint on this 4×4 is beautiful it really blends into the country lanes of Kent. Like we said earlier, this could be a contender in a competition due to the excellent condition of the paint, and the car itself, is in. Please see all the photos and the Exterior video in this section to really understand the unblemished beauty of the work completed.
Glass and Trim
The windscreen has been replaced as well as all the trim around the remaining glass.
As with any classic 4×4, the simplicity of the interior allows you to get whatever you need done whether this is expediting around your local farm or going on an off-road adventure you know you can get back into this nice and dirty. Thats not to say that Dinny hasnt kept and maintained it in excellent condition please see the Interior Review video and photos to see for yourself. Get those wellington or hiking boots ready.
Seats and Carpets
The seats have been re-fitted with your typical vinyl in the front and back. No signs of any wear and tear. The same can be said for the carpet. Front and rear belts have been accounted for in an invoice, please see paperwork photos.
The gauges and interior are in very good condition, as can be seen in the media file. Dinny has left the gauges alone, i.e. not choosing to refinish them this is absolutely the right decision as they reflect the cars past over the last forty years.
Steering Wheel / Gear Stick
Both are in very good condition with no issues. The originality of these parts keep the character of a such beautifully restored vehicle.
Jumping into a machine like this and bending round the country roads of Britain is always a fantastic experience, and paired with a fully restored 70s 4×4, this experience is enhanced that much further. Its got a rumbling 3.0L and has hard suspension, exactly what you would expect in a machine like this. Please watch the One the Road video to hear and see this in action.
Engine and Gearbox
The car started first go from cold (see the cold start video). The diesel 3.0L engine starts up beautifully and sounds smooth whilst running. Once on the road, Dinny showed us how it changes in short and long ratio to show the full functionality. He also has said the clutch is Brand New with roughly 100 miles on it around the time of inspection.
Suspension and Brakes
With restored brakes and suspension, you do not have much to worry about when off-road. They work really well.
The car really drives great and there were no issues detected on the drive.
Dinny took us around the country roads where we were able to test a number of things on the car. Please take a look at the On the Road video to see for yourself.
Electrics and Other
There are hardly any electrics on the car, however, Dinny informs us the basics all work as they should.
As the car was bought in Belgium before restoration there is not much history in terms of the vehicle outside of Britain. However, Dinny has supplied us with full invoices of all parts he has added to the Toyota Land Cruiser, and judging the condition of the car is nothing short of excellent.
The vehicle last passed MOT 13/02/2019 and expires February 2020.
Please see the images below to review all the paperwork that comes with the car.
Current indicated mileage is 52,210 KM on 21/10/2019.
