1928 ROLLS-ROYCE 20HP HORSFIELD BARREL SIDED OPEN TOURER - £57,500
A very well executed, handsome, barrel-sided tourer, bodied in the mid 1970s by Horsfields, very reminiscent of the sought-after Barker version of the 1920s. Sold by us in 2007 to enthusiastic husband & wife R.R.E.C. members, the car is now back with us from them, having been very well loved and cared for during this period. Work has included a full re-paint, re-upholstery in deep red leather, new carpets, 'double duck' hood, hood bag, tonneau cover and side screens, and re-finishing of dashboard. All bright work is correctly nickel plated and in excellent condition. Fitted with an aluminium cylinder head & the car benefits greatly from being fitted with an overdrive, having a relaxing effect on long distance drives, as well as increasing significantly the comfortable cruising speed. A partial engine overhaul, including re-bore & new pistons, new clutch, new starter ring gear, and much more besides, not to mention regular servicing & much love & attention generally during the same ownership. The car is now running very nicely, well-proportioned in design, very smart, and ready to begin a new chapter in its life of 90+ years so far. MoT'd until July 2021.Chassis No. GXL32 Reg. No. HW 1304 Snippets: Chocolates & Rugby, Collieries & Cricket.Albert Magnus Fry (1857/1938) took delivery of GXL32 when he was 71 years old. Luther Vincent (1890/1915) MC was killed in action whilst serving with the Durham Light Infantry; Francis (1892/1968) also served with the Durhams of which the C/O was their father!, Reginald Percy (1895/1963) joined the Royal Field Artillery & George Harold was with the Royal Flying Corps.
