Developed under the watchful eye of Porsche Chief Executive Peter Schutz, the 911 Carrera 3.2 made its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show of September 1983. Estimated to be 80 percent new, the model's 3164cc (hence '3.2') flat-six engine was credited with developing some 231bhp and 209lbft of torque. Allied to a five-speed manual transmission, it proved both rev-happy and flexible, making the model capable of 0-60mph in 5.3 seconds and a 153mph top speed. In order to cope with the increased performance, the brakes were enlarged and the top two gear ratios slightly raised. Among other improvements was a redesigned timing chain tensioner - the Achilles heel of the earlier engines.
Declared manufactured in 1989 and first registered in the UK in November 1998, this Porsche 911 Convertible has been with its current owner since November 2017 who purchased the car from a reputable performance car specialist. The 911 has had lots of money spent on it in recent years. The top end of the engine and gearbox were recently rebuilt less than 1,000 miles ago, at which time a new clutch was fitted along with a new fuel pump and fuel lines. The clock and speedometer were also refurbished. Fitted with a Thatcham One Clifford alarm offering remote central locking, this 911 is offered for sale with many invoices and receipts relating to the extensive work, a current MoT test certificate with no advisories valid until May 2026, and its current V5 registration document. Interested parties should note that since the fitment of the Thatcham alarm system some instruments are not working including the stereo and electric windows, which all worked previously and are believed to be a relatively simple fix. With many of the major mechanical components restored, it's time for a new custodian to enjoy this 911 for years to come. Consigned by Daniel Godin
