1991 PEUGEOT 205 GTI 1,9 LHD - £9,970 ono
Reluctantly offering my 1991 205 GTI 1,9, with 229,000 kms. It is a sparingly used, 2nd owner car, accident-free.
Used only in good weather. Avg.annual mileage is 1,5 - 2 Kmiles p.a.
A rare car to find in this condition, with
a totally solid body, especially the underbody/ rockers which are immaculate, never welded/repaired.
0 (zero) trackdays or circuit/race usage. Absolutely never used in any racing whatsoever.
The car in question is a somewhat specific, relatively unique example of a late-model Mk-2 205 GTI 1,9, as it comes with the following combination of factory-fitted equipment/options (german market) :
-orig.factory power-assisted (!) steering
(A rarity on the 1,9. A further curiosity
is that the original, coveted GTI steering wheel on these PAS-equipped cars was 10% smaller in diameter, as they have a ~20% quicker steering rack (!) compared to the non-PAS GTI 1,9 - offering a totally outstanding, racecar-like driving experience.
The PAS-steering is full of feel and very meaty, as the steering effort is almost the same as the non-PAS-cars : the quicker steering rack brings a certain increased effort into the equation as well, so the steering on these cars offers a pure race-car feeling.
-Dark-green carpets and dark-green inserts on the door-cards (Sorrento special edition).
This car in question was acquired by me as a totally standard car in 2004, with 175,000 km & 13 yrs old, from a mature 1st owner in Germany, in a mint condition throughout (used as a summer car, never seen winters, rain etc.)
I have been using it in a similar fashion, as a weekend / nice weather only car (2nd car), and way more sparingly than the orig.owner. Hence the chassis & underbody are preserved in a rare, substantially good condition.
Since owning the car, I have invested tremendous financial & work outlays
in carefully replacing/upgrading many parts/components, almost exclusively
with orig.PSA-counter parts, from official dealers.

the car to an almost-like-new working condition, and perform several well thought out modifications to make the

An exhaustive list of all the preventative maintenance and modification work done,
is available on demand. Many invoices, documents etc.are kept and filed.
Also, a detailed photo gallery (Google Photos) is available to seriously interested parties.
The performance modifications, as well as the thorough mechanical refresh, gave the car a very reliable, strong and visceral driving experience.
It has a certain, intentional and planned, raw racecar feeling that I was trying to achieve (to make the car even sharper and aurally satisfying to drive, RS style), whilst still retaining a modicum of comfort so as to enable to use it as a GT weapon.
(I underline that most of the 205GTI-specific preventative maintenance
has already been done, therefore the
car has tremendous value in terms of the prospective care-free mileage it can
offer to the next owner).
In 2016, the orig.paint was starting to fade a little, and it was decided to perform a respray in a special, Porsche PTS custom paint code (Irish green), which included the following as well:
- planned visual modifications (professional 'cleaning' of side custodes)
- new bumpers.
- authentic 205 Rallye wheelarch covers,
bought new from France.
- two custom-upholstered bucket seats in tartan trim.
- custom, hand-made seat consoles.
- preventative sealing of sunroof and refitting of door & window seals.
- cleaning and restoring of the interior and undercarpet isolation (interior is in as-new condition, dry and re-fit properly).
- rare, new Fondmetal F3700 alloys (lightweight!) with genuine stud & nut conversion, spacers etc.
The cost of the respray & cosmetic refresh alone exceeded 3,200 GBP.
The cost of numerous, extensive maintenance and modification parts/labour is far exceeding
the asking price.
