We first sold this fabulous driving MGC Automatic back in February 2016. Our C is an original RHD, Home market car, supplied new by University Motors Limited, London on the 3rd May 1968. The car was built between the 4th-9th April and left the factory in Tartan Red with automatic gearbox, disc wheels, heater and Dunlop SP tyres. The car was issued with the London registration number VGP 82F and this is still with the car today. Only 230 examples were built with the 3 speed automatic gearbox that suits the powerful, torquey 3 litre engine very well. Making the car even more interesting is the fact it is a University Motors car, often enhanced with nice upgrades such as webasto sunroofs, improved suspension and engine modifications and of course University Motors badging. The MG comes with a Heritage Certificate and comprehensive file of MOT's and invoices. We know from the history that the C covered around 7,000 miles in the ten years prior to coming to us in 2016, it was also previously owned by a Parliamentary Candidate for the Forest of Dean. Between 2012 and 2014 the car was subject of various mechanical improvements to include new brake calipers, brake discs, brake shoes, brake booster kit, Spax shock absorbers, polyurethane bushes to torsion bars, king pins, tie bars and anti-roll bars, dual fuel pump, fuel hoses, differential overhaul, new propshaft universal joints, new rear wheel bearings, alloy polished rocker cover, new steering rack, new thermostat and carbs were stripped down and rebuilt. Enhancing the car cosmetically, it was also treated to a high quality full re-paint and many years on, it still has a lovely, gleaming finish to it. In 2019 the MGC changed hands again and since then has covered well over 4000 faultless miles, including 1200 miles overseas touring in France. The MGC has also been further enhanced with electric power steering, a new webasto sunroof, new ‘Classic' MG leather seats with headrests, inertia seat belts, Moto-Lits steering wheel, knock on Minilight wheels, electronic ignition, LED bulbs (except headlamps), and regular servicing. With the recent expenditure, the MGC is both superbly presented, and on the road very impressive. The six cylinder engine runs superbly, holds excellent oil pressure and the automatic gearbox changes smoothly offering a pleasant, comfortable cruising car. The brakes are ultra-sharp, the suspension perfectly set up and the steering is lovely with the benefit of electric power steering. The C is structurally sound with a solid, straight underside and the bodywork is very smartly presented with a lovely paint finish. The chrome work is nicely presented, the wheels are excellent and the engine bay and boot area are well presented. The interior is very well presented with lovely Black leather, good quality carpets, door cards and headlining. This rare Automatic MGC is a great buy and with its level of recent expenditure and overseas touring, it should give its next owner great confidence. Previously sold by us to one of our long term customers in Norfolk, the MG now returns in a multi part exchange deal.
