We are delighted to have yet another original RHD, UK supplied, matching numbers Mercedes Benz 190SL. With only 562 ever built in RHD, we are pleased to have our third 190SL in little over 12 months. Demand for these cars has been tremendous in recent times and these iconic, timeless classics are not only beautiful in appearance, but incredibly practical and useable. This example was manufactured in West Germany and delivered to England for sale during 1960. Having spent its early life in the United Kingdom the 190SL was shipped to the USA where it spent many years in the sun. During the early 1990's the Mercedes Benz left California and returned to the UK where it was re-registered and MOT tested with a recorded mileage of 53527 miles.Between 1991 and 1999 the Mercedes Benz covered 9000 miles and was sold requiring restoration work. The 190SL was purchased as a son to father gift and then put through the families Mercedes Benz approved Bodyshop Group for a careful, no expense spared bare metal body restoration. The car was kept in its original, period colour combination of Ivory with Red upholstery and an extensive record of the work accompanies the impressive history file. The 190SL stayed with the family for 19 years and covered around 3000 miles including the London to Brighton Classic Car Run in 2009.Over the past two years the 190SL has been owned by a lady in Derbyshire who has covered just a few hundred miles, the car arriving with us with a mileage of 65500. This beautifully presented Mercedes Benz is driving well, still retains many wonderful original features such as its steering wheel, clock and Solex carburettors and will be soon going through out workshop for some general re-commissioning work having covered just over 3000 miles in the past 20 years plus. Whilst the car has only covered limited mileage, it has been maintained with invoices on file from Mercedes Benz Croydon for removing the rear axle and carrier, replacing drive shaft gaiters and clips, renewing suspension bearing seals, replacing the diff pinion oil seal and rebuilding and re-fitting as required.Having had a no expense spared body restoration and build up with an approved Mercedes Benz Bodyshop has ensured 20 years the car still presents superbly. The panels are superbly straight with impressive gaps, the underside is excellent, and the paint finish still gleams all these years on. Chrome work is mainly excellent, the interior has nicely aged and the hood is excellent having been replaced in the early 2000's. There is no doubt this car has huge potential, its performance is impressive, oil pressure very good, the gearbox absolutely superb, as is the rear axle.
