To Be OFFERED AT AUCTION WITHOUT RESERVE at RM Sothebys' Arizona event, 18 - 19 January 2018. Estimates:$70,000 - $90,000 Fleetwood offered 11 coachbuilt body styles for the 1930 LaSalle, as part of the appropriately titled 340 Fleetwood Custom line. These cars were extremely expensive compared with other models, limited in their production, and shared styling cues with the V-8 and V-16 models of Cadillac, LaSalles big brother in the GM lineup. Each bore a rather dramatic name, such as Fleetcliff, Fleetlands, or, in the case of the sporting five-passenger phaeton, the Fleetshire, and many were available in unique Sport color schemes that added flair and romance to the LaSalle line and showroom floors. The Fleetshire phaeton offered here is one of very few remaining in existence. It was the recipient of a multi-year professional restoration for the current owner, a well-known Cadillac collector and authority, who reports that it was finished in the correct factory color combination of Bellaire Grey and Vista Grey, striped in cream, with a new black top and matching leather interior, as well as striking correct wooden artillery wheels. Both the engine bay and undercarriage were fully detailed to attractive factory-correct standards, while the twin side-mounted spares were fitted with correct accessory rear-view mirrors and whitewall tires. LaSalles were always stylish but this example, with its Fleetwood body, may well be uniquely so. It is ready for its new owner to display it proudly on the show field, or to drive it in style and grace. To view this car and others currently consigned to this auction, please visit the RM website at
