A true gentleman's sportscar, the Lagonda LG45 is a formidable machine and competent rally entrant. Our car, sporting Rapide Specification coachwork courtesy of Barry Simpson Restoration, Devon, and created c1993, is a very handsome example of the marque.A proven veteran of several recent rallies, including more than one Flying Scotsman and Alpine Trial, we can highly commend this motorcar for similar service in future years...........Automotive stylist and designer, Frank Feeley, was credited with the design of both the Lagonda LG45 Rapide and V12 in 1937. Perhaps better known from his exploits with Aston Martin later in his career, the sporting prowess evident in the LG45 Rapide would continue as a theme throughout the decades that he designed motorcars. The Gatsby-esque external chrome exhausts, cutaway doors and swooping front cycle-wings exaggerated everything about Feeley's design. Just 25 original Rapide Specification cars were produced by Lagonda and are amongst the most-collectible pre-war sports cars today. Our car was completed by Barry Simpson Restoration of Devon in 1993 on behalf of then-owner, Anthony. R. Dady of Hong Kong, himself a prolific collector of Lagonda and other desirable motorcars. 'PSY 918' is an original LG45 Sanction 3, converted to Rapide Specification and sporting original type Meadows 4.5 litre 6-cylinder engine, itself rebuilt as part of the painstaking restoration in 1986-1993, and rebuilt again, comprehensively, due to piston failure by Steven James Engineering & KV Engineering of Norfolk as recently as 2015. This is fully documented and photographed. Further, and as recently as Spring 2018, the G9 gearbox was also once more rebuilt to a high standard By Neve Engineering of East Sussex, at a cost of more than £10,000, and is considered so fresh, its technically still running-in.The success that has been enjoyed on countless miles of competitive road-rallying in the hands of its owner, himself privileged to own a number of exotic cars, is testament to the usability, durability and quality of this impressive Lagonda. Now available for inspection and test at our secure premises in North Yorkshire, we're extremely confident that this Lagonda is the perfect steed to continue to deliver enormous pleasure and ample horsepower to those wishing to take up the mantle and go Pre-War rallying....!
