Only 17,000 miles from new (stored for most of its life)
Registration Number FHM 53 (which is transferable, valued at £2500 but will not be sold separately)
I am selling this beautiful car on behalf of my 90 year old Father who has owned this car from 1951 when he was serving in the Royal Air Force as a Motor Transport Engineer. He acquired the car from a Squadron Leader when it broke with a down seized engine upon returning from a 2year tour in RAF Gibraltar; my father recovered the car for him and stored it for a while. Eventually the Officer decided not to repair the car and sold it to my Father for the sum of £10 (which also accounted for the recovery costs owed). In 1951 the Car registration rules changed and my Dad registered the car in his name on 9th October 1951 He shows as the first owner on the current V5C. He put the car in the garage with a view to rebuilding the engine and it there it stayed until 2004 when he decided to lovingly restore it following the death of my mother. Far too much to list but there is an A4 file full of receipts and also photos of the work carried out along with old MOTs and some memorabilia such as the Post war Petrol ration book and original registration book.
The car was manufactured on 11th May 1948 and fist purchased on 4th August 1949 from Bassadone in Gibraltar which specialised in New tax free car for the Forces based there.
The car is registered with the Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust and the certificate number is 9063. The link to their contacts page is https://www.jaguarheritage.com/about-us/contact-us/.
This car is fully roadworthy and legal although definitely not a concours vehicle it is in excellent condition for its age. The paintwork (although looks great from a short distance) does have some blemishes now and could do with a refresh in my opinion.
It starts on the button every time my Father rarely drives it any more covering only a few miles per year but he does start it and run it at least once a week.
Up until a few years ago my father would regularly take this car to many shows (some photos are available) during the summer months but unfortunately it is just too much for him to drive any distance any more. This is genuinely a deeply regrettable sale and to be honest I am dreading seeing him part with it, but we have to face reality.
It is fitted with a full stainless steel exhaust which sounds great.
Hopefully the pictures will give you a good feel for this car but you have to view it to appreciate it. Viewing is strictly by appointment only and I will need to be present at the time of viewing as well as my father.
This really is a great opportunity for someone with the capability to bring this to a concours car with very little effort in my opinion.
