1936 Frazer Nash BMW 315 Cabriolet During 1934 AFN Limited commenced import and assembly of BMW cars and sold them in the UK branded as Frazer Nash BMW. They were to be the official BMW importer until the outbreak of war in 1939. The first Frazer Nash BMW was the 1.5 litre, 6 cylinder 315 available as a sports two seater or 4 seat cabriolet.This car underwent a complete restoration in 1978 for which there is a photographic evidence and a work schedule to show the work carried out.Little is known of the cars early history but copies of earlier registration documents are included in the documentation.The current owner purchased the car in 2012 and has used it on numerous BMW historic motor club events for which it is most suitable being a very capable touring car. The car has plenty of luggage space and competent wet weather gear with wind up door windows, glass rear windows and an excellent lined hood.The car has been used on many VSCC events and an old VSCC eligibility document goes with the car.Powered by a 1500cc six-cylinder engine with twin solex carburettors, this engine was a new old stock unit from Mark Garfitt and fitted in 2014 under the watchful eye of Oliver Penney, both guys veritable gurus on all things pre-war FN/BMW, and Steve Stanton tuned it on his rolling road.The brakes are hydraulic and are very efficient making the car safely usable in modern day traffic.All tyres are good with two new Waymaster 525/16 fitted to the front in 2017 that have covered less than 600 miles.A 12-volt electrical system with a VW dynamo and electronic regulation works in conjunction with many LED bulbs to reduce running load and make for easy starting, with no overcharging of the battery.LED running lights have been fitted and work with the ignition, LED brake lights in the centre of the rear bumper where the original tail lights were situated, and LED rear fog lights, all making for a much safer drive with very little electrical load.There are a couple of extra instruments, water temperature and Rev counter with a cigar lighter socket for Sat nav and the like.
