The original steel dashboard is in superb order. The original Ford Transit single instrument binnacle has cleverly been fitted with modern digital Ford clocks, original bakelite Ford steering wheel and boss, original indicator stalk, 12v charging point etc... Simply stunning. Finished in the Classic Castrol Oil shade of green and cream. The bodywork and chassis were subject to an extensive ground up restoration and completed in 2005. The complete body and chassis bare metal stripped, sanded/painted to perfection giving a uniform deep gloss shine. It's clear to see from the pictures that it's still stunning today which is a testament to the outstanding quality of workmanship carried out 20 years ago. The panel fit, door closures and gaps are excellent throughout. All external trims, bumpers, door handles, etc. are mainly original items that have been re-plated or new old stock. Glass is in exceptional order throughout, most of the lights are original items again in fantastic order. The underside of the van is to show standard. The chassis having been stripped and fully painted during the extensive restoration still presents beautifully today having barely seen any adverse weather. The Stanford Coachwork traditional signwriting can easily be removed if required. We understand a special paint was used that can be removed without damaging the bodywork, the original sign-writing invoice is contained within the history file for reference. all matching excellent Michelin Agilis 81 195R - 14C Tyres. The fully overhauled and uprated brake system is excellent, she pulls up with ease and perfectly straight. On the road, she handles beautifully benefitting from all new suspension and power steering, Ford 2.4 Duratorq TDCi, 4 cylinder engine with 5 speed gearbox mated to a Ford Transit Minibus rear differential making cruising at motorway speeds a delight. The new engine and gearbox have covered a mere 10,000 miles from new. On the road, she performs perfectly, quite sprightly off the mark and easily cruising at 70mph. The clutch is light in operation and the gearbox selects with ease... Such fun to drive. The history file contains the detailed build sheet, hand sketches, and design planning notes by Stanford Coachworks, Classic Van and Pick-up magazine 7 page article dated September 2017, Stanford Coachworks Annual 2015 proudly displaying the van at various shows and past MOT certificates back to 2005 documenting the mileage since the new engine was fitted.
