In the 1960's, Mirage built 3 original GT40 lightweights, the most famous of which was the one driven by the late Steve McQueen. In its debut at Spa, in May 1967, the legendary endurance racer Jacky Ickx and the "Flying Dentist", Dr Dick Thompson, finished first overall. It was the first win for any car in this colour and livery. The original car sold in 2012 for a record $11million at RM Auctions. This car is finished in powder blue and marigold with Mirage GT40 Gulf livery. It is powered by a superb highly tuned Ford 302 V8 engine which in itself is a work of art. Receipts show the build by EDA that include Edelbrock aluminium performance heads and a bundle of snakes exhaust system. Furthermore, there are 4 sets of twin choke down draft webber carburettors and special inlet manifold. Featuring knock-on alloy wheels with spinners and lock pins & shod with new tyres all round . There is a built-in fire extinguisher system and air conditioning. Additionally, twin polished fuel caps for the twin fuel tanks with twin gauges. Rare removable door tops enable open top motoring!
