1989 FORD SIERRA SAPPHIRE Classic - £1,750 All sen...
Ford Sierra, Sapphire, Classic, 1.6. Registered, August, 1989 and still less than, 48,000 miles, I have the old MOTs to confirm this, next MOT due 18th July 2020, on SORN. The previous owner left it in a garage and only took it out once every year doing 3 or 4 miles for its MOT. I have done just under 9,000 during the three years I have owned it; during this time it has been reliable and only needed normal servicing.
Good overall un-restored, original condition, with normal wear & tear consistent with the mileage. The interior is almost as new, there arent even any holes in the rear parcel shelf for extra speakers. The only additions are, an old immobilizer and an alarm system, which both work and a more modern CD/Radio stereo unit.
There are a lot of better vehicles about but they have been restored and had a lot of time and money spent on them. However this is just an old car, it is what you would have expected from a five year old, second hand car of its time but its now, 30 years old. It has had nothing done to the boy-work, except patching up some flaky underseal underneath. It does need some attention to the front door bottom-edges, especially the left front and the rear wheel arches; I have left these (for now). I could do something to make them look better but I havent, nothing is covered-up, what you see, is what you get
This is the very basic specification model, a car which no-one would think was special enough to be worth preserving, the majority of these were run into the ground and then sent to a scrap-yard. It has the long stroke, 1597cc version of the pinto engine, with w Weber Carb and a manual Type 9 gearbox, it is a very rare example of this base specification model, one web-site claims there are only five of this model left on the road. If you parked at a classic car event then it would almost certainly be the only example of this variant there. A car for a genuine ford enthusiast.
This car could be used, as a general purpose run-about, with just a little rust treatment. The mechanicals are in very good condition. The wheels are the original, 13 inch steels, the tyres are legal for tread depth but they are old.
It could be the basis for a full restoration because it doesnt have the main problem of lots of rust in the body to deal with. As the base model, it would always be rare and unusual alongside the more desirable models.
It could, because of the good body-shell, be modified / customized to whatever you prefer.
I would accept £1,750 for it but I will consider offers, for more info please contact,
My local library may be closing and I wont have e-mail access, if you don't receive a reply this will be the reason, eventually i will reply, please be patient.
The car and I are in south-east Birmingham.
