1969 FORD MUSTANG Mach 1 S Code - £42,500
Believed Numbers matching (the tags are present but Ive never checked) with 90% original sheet metal, painted in a close match to an original Ford colour (its now actually Chrysler Intense Blue mica) but with a gloss rather than matt hood blackout. Its a genuine Mach 1 S Code as evidenced by the Marti report.
The rare S Code means its got a big block 390 cubic inch (6.4l) engine, which is hooked to a C6 autobox and 3.25 rear axle. The engine has excellent oil pressure cold and hot, it never uses any coolant and the gearbox changes smoothly with an effective working kickdown. The axle is quiet, all you can hear is the engine through the 2.5 exhaust
The car drives really nicely, and was last seen by Phil King in 2017 when he spent a fair time adjusting the front suspension and steering geometry. All in all Ive covered some 3,250 fault free miles.
The bodywork is almost pristine though there are some marks accumulated over the last 5 years with me, you will have to search for them though.
All the brightwork is as new and undamaged, the wheels are 15 Magnum 500s with excellent B F Goodrich RWL tyres.
Inside is standard Mach 1 spec, though this 69 does have the following options:
Sport Deck Rear Seat (the top section folds flat)
Visibility Group pack (basically a remote control mirror and a bunch of interior lights)
Everything works, even the clock on the passengers side. It has a non- original period 8 track player combined AM/FM radio, but Ive not tried an 8 track cartridge in it. The radio works but the single centre dash speaker is pretty tinny and is overcome by 6.4l of US V8!
One obvious change inside youll see is the steering wheel is now a Moto-Lita wheel rather than the original. Thats because I found the original rather big and made access awkward (Im 6 2), so I swapped a smaller one in. What I think is the original wheel is present however.
Its stock apart from some minor ease of use modifications. It now runs LED rear lights which allow the amber indicators to show through the red lenses, plus the LED side markers are all indicator repeaters.
The sidelights are now in the headlights all the lighting came from Bright Light Customs. http://www.brightlight-customs.co.uk/
Its fitted with a Pertronix electronic ignition, the seat belts are UK style inertia reels, and theres an Autometer oil pressure gauge.
All the interior trim was bought new by a previous owner in the US, although it wasnt fitted until the car was refitted here after importation.
Its been mine since May 2014, and of course is now MOT exempt although the 4 MOTs it did pass were all without any advisories. In that time its been kept in a dehumidified garage under a lightweight dust cover thats included (the cover, not the dehumidifier!)
The odometer reads 23,650 or so. Whether thats 23, 123 or 223 thousand miles I have no idea
The car is located not far from Gatwick Airport and I work from home so viewing is going to be easy weather permitting!
The V5C is in my name and present along with old MOTs and the pile of invoices from the US. I have copies of a Marti Deluxe report and the last US title - which was used to register the car.
I have another document detailing the history of the car as far as I know it which Ill mail on to anyone interested.
