The Ferrari 250 Series cars built from 1953 through until 1964 really stamped Ferrari on the map. The race cars dominated on tracks all over the world and their road cars were without peer and very successful. Ferrari was on a roll and his clientele were the rich and famous. The 275 and 330 Series cars which succeeded the 250 Series cars were also very successful cars in period, though both were built and sold primarily as gran turismo road cars.

Without doubt one of the best cars to come from Maranello during this time was the subtle, yet beautiful Ferrari 330 GTC.

The Ferrari 330 GTC debuted at the 1966 Geneva Motor Show. The car was designed to fill the gap between the four seater 330 GT and top of the range 275 series cars. Built on the 275 chassis and powered by the proven four litre twin cam V12 engine (with 300 hp) and with fully independent suspension, the 330 GTC was regarded as the best gran turismo car in the world at that time. Many viewed the 330 GTC as a closed version of the 275 GTS.

In total just shy of 600 cars were built from 1966 to 1968 before being succeeded by the 365 GTC. These cars are rare in Australia with perhaps only ten examples known to remain in this country.

We are delighted to offer a fully sorted and absolutely stunning 1968 Ferrari 330 GTC.

This particular car was delivered new to Italy and sold by Ferrari dealer Motor S.A.S to a Mr Mattioli in Rome. Its original colour scheme was 'azzurro' with a black interior. Subsequently the cars early history is not known, however, it is understood to have found its way to the USA early in its life. The car was acquired in a poor state from the USA by an Australian enthusiast who imported the car and immediately began a total restoration. Unfortunately progress was slow and other projects took precedence. The car was sold partly restored to Ian Cummins in the mid to late 1990s and it was Ian who completed the restoration of the car. The car was converted to right hand drive during the restoration. It was sold to the current owner in late 2000, however, he was working overseas at the time and didnt take possession of the car until he returned home to Australia in September 2001. At that time the odometer was 29490 km. In the following 16 plus years of ownership this classic Ferrari has been meticulously maintained at no expense by marque specialists in Melbourne. In September 2009 the engine was rebuilt by Mark Johnson in Melbourne. At that time the odometer was at 38760 km. Today the odometer reads 46365 km.When restored the car was finished in the stunning colour combination of Rosso Sir Ivor (a light metallic burgundy) with a beige leather interior. There is an album which contains a photographic record of the restoration.

Whilst it is an older restoration this car is stunning and it presents and drives fabulously! It is not a concours car, rather a beautifully presented example that does get driven from time to time.

The paint work remains of high quality and as you can see from the suite of photographs the depth of colour is very strong. There are some very minor imperfections in the paint with the odd small stone chip evident. All of the bright work, exterior trim and glass are in very good condition. Inside the cockpit everything is excellent, including the leather seats, door cards, the carpets, timber work, dash, instruments and controls. The engine bay is spotless and very clean. The heart and soul of any Ferrari is its engine and this 330 has one of the sweetest engines we have experienced in a classic V12 Ferrari. Turn the key, prime the fuel pumps to fill the carburettors, three pumps on the throttle and ignition . . . boom, she starts straight away from cold without touching the accelerator and immediately settles into a smooth idle. Allow everything to warm up and get the car out on the open road and it is just magic! The V12 sings like no other and the power band is just something! The gearbox is slick and very smooth. The car also handles and stops as it should.

This Ferrari 330 GTC is fully sorted and ready for its new owner to enjoy. It is also fitted with air conditioning. Any inspection welcome.

The car has a partially complete tool roll & jack kit, owner's manual, parts manual and an extensive history / ownership file since acquisition by the current owner in 2000.

A unique opportunity.
