Noteworthy details include an outside fuel filler cap and a full restoration conducted in Italy, preserving its original colour. The 250 GT SWB, introduced in late 1959, marked a significant success for Ferrari, both in terms of aesthetics and performance. Chassis number 2347 GT, completed in February 1961, exemplifies this triumph with its position as the 62nd car out of 165, displaying the final iteration of the 1960 body style. Clad in steel coachwork by Scaglietti, it features vent windows and an external fuel filler located in the corner of the rear deck lid. Originally sold by Chic Vandagriff’s Hollywood Sports Cars to Southern California collector Jack Nethercutt, the car changed hands over the years and even graced the silver screen in 1968. Subsequent owners included renowned British racing driver David Piper. Under French ownership by Jean-Claude Trippier in the 1990s, a comprehensive restoration took place, ensuring authenticity, with matching-numbers engine number 2347 GT being reinstated. Toni Franco’s workshop in Maranello was entrusted with the mechanics while Bacchelli a Villa’s Carrozzeria Auto Sport refinished the coachwork. Certified by Ferrari Classiche in October 2008, the car made appearances at the 2008 Shell Ferrari Historic Challenge Finals at Mugello and the 2009 Techno Classica. It later joined a Scandinavian collection in 2011 and was sold in 2023 to its current owner. Exceptional examples of the 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, boasting rich histories and notable ownership, rarely enter the market. This unique opportunity allows marque enthusiasts to acquire a truly special specimen of one of Maranello’s most iconic berlinettas.
