This is a very good example of the new shaped (as we would now refer to it today as the "face-lift" model) variant which led on from the 1947 / 48 DB18 which had led straight on from the earlier, pre / post war DB17 in style and looks. It also utilised the same 2.5ltr straight 6 engine which had been utilised in the sports version and the reliable war reconnaissance vehicle 'Dingo'.

This upgrade features the new styling of integrated headlights to the front wings and a new concept of rear lighting through the Lucas 'D' lamps.

The sales brochure shows this to be an Export version and boasts a top speed of 86mph - all for a UK price tag of £2110 after taxes.

The example I have for sale is in Royal Blue over White with a Light Blue interior.

I have had some work done to the engine and gearbox, which is the Wilson 'Pre-Selector' 4 speed column shift and 'Fluid Flywheel' giving an effortless and very smooth change both up and down.

There is a full Powerflow stainless steel exhaust system which gives a nice solid tone on the outside whilst the comfort of the 'Mulliner Coachwork' ensures a quiet passage for the passengers on the inside.

The radiator has been rebuilt with a modern core structure and includes an additional core at 10mm (original was 2 core at 13mm) also added an electric push fan for occasions when it may require more airflow at rest or heavy traffic although not needed so far.

A newly fabricated stainless steel fuel tank (old mild steel tank available and in excellent condition, replaced due to periods of lay-up causing condensation in the tank).

A new battery and some electrics (new electrics due to be done if not sold first), additional LED's and braided fuel lines being a few jobs done todate.

All finished off with a change over from 'Crossply' to 5 new 'Radials'.

The work completed on this lovely old car so-far is not a comprehensive restoration and leaves some room for a new owner to make their mark on its ongoing history. There are many old features and a few later additions which may or may not be to your liking but it is a good basis for a first time owner of classic cars or for someone wishing to add to an existing fleet.

I have limited history for this vehicle as the previous owner stopped using the it several years prior to my ownership and I have not been able to establish contact to discover it's past. I have used this limousine for photo shoots and car shows and it was requested to be the lead car for the senior dignitaries at a local Gala procession followed by many of the local Mayors and councillors.

Photographs are available and can be included if required.

Please note that the registration shown on the pictures - MGJ 968 - is available with the car if required and by separate negotiation. As are spares and work manuals.

I am available to discuss any points and price, please call or email.
