CHEVROLET 3500 SPECIAL DELUXE - £23,995
The 1941 Chevrolet Special Deluxe Coupe was a sensation from the day of its introduction. When compared to pre-war models it was fabulously good looking, substantially bigger and more impressive than before. For the third time in as many years it was fully restyled by Harley Earl's Art and Colour Section, and more than ever it resembled the costlier Buick. Powered by a 216 cubic inch (3540cc) inline 6- cylinder engine and manual 3 speed transmission, the Chevy produced 85 horsepower with a top speed of 80 mph. Very mildly 'street rod' customised with its wide wheels and cutaway rear wheel arches, our car is a very rare right hand drive model. Having been dry stored for many years it has been the subject of a recent recommissioning program to include a new master cylinder and brake overhaul. The cooling system has been cleaned out and flushed, fuel tank removed and cleaned, a new carburettor, distributor cap, coil, and HT leads were fitted. All fluids and lubricants were changed.623 YUP was imported into the UK in 2012 and on arrival was put through a program of mechanical restoration before being put in to use. Since it's time in the UK the Chevy has covered little mileage and we can confirm that the engine is in strong condition and the car runs superbly with a smooth changing, quiet gearbox. The chassis is very clean and structurally excellent, having spent most of its life in a dry climate. The bodywork is solid and features straight panels with lovely older paintwork and some recently re-chromed bright work. The four/five seat interior is particularly well trimmed in an attractive cloth finish and complements the excellent overall appearance of this rather special car.
