1987 BMW M6 M635 CSi - £POA
SOLD: A rare M635 CSi, pre-facelift, M Tech kit, great provenance.

Those unmistakable E24 lines are finished in the ever-popular Salmon Silver Metallic, or Lachs Silver as it is perhaps more commonly known. This particular example is also equipped with a genuine M Tech body kit (side skirts, rear apron, and rear spoiler), as fitted at BMW back in 1995. Being a pre-facelift model the car boasts the deeper front airdam with the ribbed lower portion. Further still this M6 was factory specified with the larger 415mm cross-spoke alloys, which meant that the wheel arches were fitted with body-coloured lip extensions.
Boasting full black leather the interior space still very much looks the part. Despite having seen 185k miles of use the upholstery remains in wonderful condition, with the electrically adjustable sports seats showing few signs of significant wear. They present with a lovely patina that can only be achieved in cars of a certain vintage, which is lovely to see having never been re-trimmed or connolised.
On closer inspection there are no cracks or marks to the dash, with all the switchgear retaining a nice factory finish. Well-used items such as the steering wheel and gearknob do present with a little patination, but the rear seats show no signs of regular use and remain in excellent order. The carpets also appear to have been protected from new by the original set of BMW overcast.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The M88 engine present in the M635 CSi is an evolution of the 24-valve straight six developed for the mid-engine M1 supercar. Like that engine, the M88 shares a displacement of 3,453cc and has a four-valve crossflow cylinder designed for better breathing at high rpm. However, for its application in the E24 the M88 has wet-sump lubrication, specific pistons and connecting rods, as well as more advanced Bosch Motronic fuel injection/engine management.
The engine in this particular example has been well maintained from new. The service booklet is present with a multitude of entries at close mileage intervals, with all but the first oil service being BMW Main Dealer (full details listed below). The car was most recently serviced in July this year by a BMW specialist local to the current owner. The last two services are not stamped but invoices are present.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The M635 sits on the original set of one-piece cross-spoke alloys, which are the 415mm factory upgrade option. Each wheel presents in stunning condition, correctly finished with a black pinstripe around the inner rim. The alloys are shod in a matching set of Michelin tyres, each with ample tread remaining.
The M6 was first registered in February 1987. Present in the history file is a thick stack of invoices from new. The vast majority is BMW main dealer and details service work, parts, and general maintenance over the years. The original document pack is also present and is complete with owner's manuals and the stamped service booklet. The recorded service history is as follows:
