1989 BMW E30 318i - £POA
SOLD: A delightful 318i manual, just two owners from new with a mere 55k miles.
Electric windows, Electric door mirrors, Ashtray, Cigarette lighter, Analog clock, Heated rear windscreen, Blaupunkt radio, Lockable glove compartment, Original BMW overmats, Tool kit, Jack, Spare wheel, Electric aerial.
This example still presents very well in its factory colour of Alpine White, a fantastic period colour from the E30 range. Upon inspection the sills, arches, and scuttle panel all appear solid, and the bumpers are free from unsightly scuffs. The black trim around the car retains a good texture and both front and rear light clusters are without any cracks or moisture. The window glass remains original with the registration number etching still visible.
Having covered a mere 55k miles to date the interior remains in superb condition throughout. The cloth seats are in excellent order with no sagging or wear to be found front or rear. The dashboard and switchgear retain a beautifully fresh texture and feel solid to operate. Heavily worn items such as the steering wheel, gear knob, and handbrake show minimal wear. Within the footwells, a complete set of original BMW overmats can be found in near-perfect condition. The boot space also remains tidy, housing the spare wheel, jack and BMW tool kit.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Powered by the inline-4 (M40) 1.8-litre BMW engine, this model produces a modest 115hp and handles 0-60mph in 10 seconds, with a top speed of 115mph. Beneath the bonnet lies an orderly engine bay remaining in fine fettle. The 3-Series utilises a 5-speed manual Getrag (240) gearbox that still operates smoothly as expected.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This example has a wonderfully period standard specification with no unsightly aftermarket modifications to be found. The E30 sits on 14-inch steel wheels covered by the original BMW wheel covers, which all remain in good condition. The tyres all have a good amount of tread remaining.
The BMW 318 was first registered in October 1989 by its supplying dealer Woodrows Harnham Garage Ltd, who have almost solely maintained the vehicle from new. The car was also under the same ownership from 1989 until 2011. Within the service booklet there are 14 stamps to be found, 11 of which are from the supplying dealer.
Present in the history file is the original BMW document pack containing all booklets and manuals. MOT certificates dating back to 1997 help to verify the car's low mileage. There is also a recent HPI certificate and the V5 registration document showing one previous keeper, the current having acquired the car in 2011.
