The car was UK registered into stock by RS Mead of Maidenhead in early 1962, then sold to a Mr Farranti of North Wales in April of that same year with registration number 95DXY. After 3 years, the car was passed on to the second owner, Mr Fattorini, during 1965 with registration FHH45C. In 1990 the car was purchased by famous newspaper tycoon Eddie Shah who invested over £12,000 in improvements and retained ownership until 1994. Following this, the car changed hands twice before being acquired by The London Motor Museum who carried out extensive bodywork restoration, replaced the outer sill panels, carried out chassis repairs, bodywork repairs and a full repaint. The car’s original Black mohair convertible roof was replaced with a new Cream hood and further interior repairs were made. Following this work the Bentley was put on show at the museum alongside the owner’s large collection of other vehicles. Following the closure of the museum, the Bentley received further works before being purchased by the current owner, these works included: New rear shock absorbers, power steering ram, fuel pump, battery, tyres, further welding, and some electrical repairs. The present owner purchased the car in 2018 and to date has invested a further £32,000 in improvements which include: A full interior re-trim with all leather surfaces replaced with a high quality Cream hide and contrasting burgundy beading, new carpets, full new veneer kit, new bespoke high quality steering wheel, rebuilt factory radio, new period whitewall tyres, new laminated windscreen, suspension handling upgrades, brake servicing, new chrome, auto gearbox service and further minor repairs. The Bentley has received a vast amount of time and investment since Eddie Shah’s ownership in the early 1990’s and the current owner hasimproved the car even further. Currently, the S2 looks very impressive and overall, it is very clean and smart, however it is not without flaws and will require further attention.
