1932 Austin 7 RP De Luxe Saloon // Registration Number: TK 8442 / Chassis Number: 163443 / Engine Number: M 292760 / Transmission: Manual / Steering: Right Hand Drive / MOT Test Expiry: Exempt / Road Tax Exempt / Guide: £7500 - 9500 // The Austin Motor Company produced their little Austin 7 from the early 1920s until the start of World War II and there were many variations and updates on the Seven during this time frame. They were all designed and intended to be affordable and practical motoring to the general public and even some eighty years later, the Seven can still provide this. The term "environmentally friendly" had yet to be dreamt up in the 1920s, but the Seven scores well on fuel economy, on its size, and re-usability of parts between all the variants. There are still many good suppliers available for Austin Seven parts and the excellent back-up of many local enthusiasts. This example has been in the current ownership for twenty five years and has certainly been a long term restoration. The baby Austin has been the subject of a complete nut and bolt strip down; the restoration has included the attention to the chassis, an engine rebuild, the fitting of a new exhaust, a proper gearbox inspection and the overhaul of the axles and braking system. The vendor has run the engine since the rebuild. The body has been fully dismantled, the ash frame renewed and the sunroof has been restored and recovered. The bodywork is restored, de-rusted and resprayed in maroon and black some six years ago to a high standard (although there slight evidence of micro-blistering on the horizontal surfaces of the doors). The headlining has been renewed with West of England cloth and the interior is reupholstered in red Connolly leather. The original 19" road wheels have been stove enamelled. This Dorset-registered Austin is supplied with a new wiring loom, a new battery, a windscreen and all glass, doors and channels. The history file includes the V5C registration certificate, the RF60 registration book, manuals, a parts book and various invoices. With all the hard work completed, this is a very worthwhile and interesting project for an Austin 7 enthusiast. // Auction date: 9 June 2022
