2011 ASTON MARTIN CYGNET 1.3 MANUAL - £29,995
An extension to Aston Martin’s range of acclaimed luxury sports cars, the Cygnet was produced at Aston Martin's Gaydon Headquarters from 2011 to 2013 and was conceived, designed and built as a true Aston Martin. So, is the Cygnet simply a Toyota iQ in haute couture drag? Well, yes and no. Aston left the 1.3-litre petrol engine untouched, simply offering a choice of six-speed manual or CVT auto transmissions. Performance was identical too: 0-62mph in a leisurely 11.6 seconds and 106mph flat-out. However, the Cygnet’s bodywork and interior were considerably more bespoke than the Toyota and came with a wide variety of advanced driver-convenience features and safety equipment as standard. The most obvious external changes were Aston’s signature ‘S-Curve’ grille made from extruded aluminium and the DB9-style wing vents, clear rear lights and tasteful Alloy wheels, plus – if you look closely – neat ‘Cygnet’ script on the door handles. The Cygnet was Aston Martin’s take on a fuel-efficient, environmentally friendly city car combining quirky style with practicality and it achieved a combined fuel economy figure of 56.5mpg with carbon emissions of just 116g/km with the assistance of its Stop & Start technology. At 3078mm long and 1680mm wide (excluding the door mirrors, which are electrically retractable) and with a kerb-to-kerb turning circle of just four metres, the Cygnet is agile enough to deal with the everyday frustrations of town drivers. Its size enables you to park along crowded avenues and in the most constricted parking bays and its light, accurate steering makes it possible to negotiate urban hazards with ease. Production of the Cygnet was only between May 2011 and September 2013 as Aston Martin decided to stop production due to low sales volumes, so instead of the 4,000 per year intended, they only produced 786 cars during the whole production run of which 272 were RHD and 514 LHD with 170 being Manual transmission cars and 616 with the CVT Automatic transmission. This lovely example is one of only 170 Manual cars built and was first registered on 5th May 2011 by Aston Martin in Sevenoaks as a company demonstrator. It is finished in the Cygnet colour scheme of Grey Bull with a Spicy Red Leather and Alcantara interior and a Piano Black Facia panel. It has only had two private owners since then, with the current owner having purchased the car from Aston Martin dealer Stratstone in London on 31st December 2014 and it has now covered a genuine and very low 31,927 miles from new! Car on display @ our showrooms in Mortlake, South West London.
