1931 Alvis TL 12/60 Four Seater Tourer by Cross and Ellis. Engine No. 10239. Chassis No. 14508 and first registered 01/07/1932. Showing 5900 miles. Finished in Burgundy Red with Tan Interior and Black Wire Wheels. This open four-seater is dressed in period-correct coachwork, complete with leather-trimmed seats, folding windscreen, side screens, tonneau cover, Firestone tyres and classic wire wheels. Powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine with overhead valves, the 12/60 delivers a spirited drive, renowned for its smooth performance and handling. Fitted with twin SU carburettors, this model was well ahead of its time. Leaving the works on the 1st of July 1932, this Alvis was supplied to Bambers of Leeds. This is a highly original example throughout and records show it was restored in the mid 60s. This Alvis is presented here in great condition. The bodywork is straight and the brightwork is superb. The 1.5-litre engine isn’t fast by modern standards, but it's eager. The car can cruise happily at 50–60 mph, and with just under 50 bhp, it has a decent turn of speed for hills and overtakes—by 1931 standards, it was lively. The paperwork for this car includes old MOTs, previous invoices from work carried out, workshop diagrams, old pictures of the car and inspection certificates. Other paperwork also includes current V5, data sheets, paperwork from the Alvis owners club, tax discs, car record/build sheets and more. With a rich motorsport pedigree, the Alvis 12/60 was a favorite among sporting drivers in the early 1930s. Today, it stands as a cherished collector’s item – a mechanical time capsule from the golden days of British motoring. This Alvis 12/60 is the perfect example for any collector or enthusiast.
