1923 ALVIS 12/40 - £35,000

  • 31754 1

This restored 12/40 motor car has a fully known history and has always been a UK car. Bodied by The Midlands Motor Body Company, CX 5775 was dispatched from the works on 30th June 1923. Sold through Pritcard's Garage in Holyhead Road, to its first owner who kept the car until 1929, before he sold it to Mr Perrins. The Perrins family kept the car on the road until 1958. The car was then laid-up until 1965 before being rescued by a Mr Geoff Burdett in Northampton. Mr Burdett started a major restoration, totally stripping the 12/40. Paul Stileman managed to buy the car in 1999, she was still mostly striped and in boxes, the rebuild then continued until completion in June 2000. The car now, is fitted with the slightly later 12/50 engine and has front wheel brakes. A superb motor car to drive, typically vintage Alvis, with an extremely good performance.
