The campaign started encouragingly, with 6th place in the third DTM round at Avus and pole position in the inaugural ITC round in Helsinki underlining the new pairings competitiveness. The seasons high point was undoubtedly a remarkable weekend at Diepholz, in which Bartels took pole position and won both DTM races, although the remainder was blighted by poor reliability. Nevertheless, Bartels finished the year 10th in the DTM standings, significantly outscoring works Alfa Corse driversand fellow former Formula 1 adversariesAlessandro Nannini and Giancarlo Fisichella, in the process. For 1996, preparation of chassis number 005 was entrusted to J.A.S. Motorsport, with Bartels retained as its driver. However, the season proved to be a frustrating one; 4th place in Helsinki and two 8th places at Diepholz and Silverstone being the only notable results en route to a lowly 21st-placed finish in the newly combined DTM/ITC standings. Following the conclusion of its contemporary career, 005 was acquired by Alpi Racing in 2003 before passing into the esteemed competition-focussed collection of Piergiorgio Furlanetto in 2011. In 2017, Sig.
