1988 PHANTER KALLISTA 2.8 L - €18,000
Manufactured from 1982 to 1990 and already being Panther under the control of the Korean firm 'Jindo Corporation'. In 1982, when it went on sale, the Kallista Panther was considered a retro style vehicle. Now, seen from a distance, we can consider it a vintage car twice: because it was inspired by the aesthetics of the vehicles of the 40s and because it saw the light in the 80s, a decade that today seems very far away. The Kallista is considered as the successor of Lima (the truth is that there is a fairly large resemblance between them), and in fact for all purposes we could consider it as a modernized Lima and improved in some aspects. Unlike its predecessor, the Kallista borrows most of its Ford mechanical base, using a wide range of engines ranging from a 1.6 to a V6 of 2,900 cc, and can also choose between a manual box of 4 speeds first and then 5 or an automatic 3. The Panther Kallista is a very light sports roadster, thanks to its aluminium body, with only 3.85 meters in length, driving the Kallista is a very fun experience, the main objective of the designer Robert Jankel. His strong orientation, let's say that 'popular', along with his export to countries as diverse as Australia, USA, South Africa, Japan or almost all of Europe (including Spain) led him to be the best-selling Panther model in the history of the brand, achieving dispatch according to some consulted sources the number of 1,437 units. As was usual in the brand, the interior was very careful and presented a very attractive retro design, abounding leather and quality wood, with two magnificent V6 engines (2.8 and 2.9) powered by carburettor. The Kallista clearly has found a place in the market, not as a first car or even as a serious sports car, but, perhaps, as a fun car for those who appreciate style and craftsmanship. With its rugged frames, the corrosion resistant aluminium body and the reliability of Ford components, this is a car that makes a difference and gets its place.
