Classic car club celebrating 15th anniversary

Eglinton Classic Car Club is celebrating its 15th anniversary in 2010 and the current chairman has spoken out about the history of the organisation.

John Nixon told the Londonderry Sentinel that the classic car club cross-community democratic society and that everyone''s thoughts are considered as equally important.

He spoke fondly of the time he joined the club around 1997 when Eamon Curran, a man from the village Eglinton, was the chairman.

"It is totally cross-community and everybody takes everyone else as they find them. The binding thing about the club is the love of the cars," Mr Nixon told the paper.

He added that the club will not really be celebrating until it reaches its 20th anniversary.

The club, which was formed in 1995 originally consisting of a group of 12 people, will be taking part in the Old Vehicle Classic Show at the City of Derry Rugby Club on April 11th 2010.
