1981 MK1 Dacia 1300. These cars are identical to the Renault 12, but were assembled in Romania. All parts are interchangeable with R12 parts and are widely available. There are precious few MK1's left and the Renault 12 is even more scarce.

The car is very original with only 82,000 KM (50K miles) from new and one elderly owner from new. The car is Hungarian registered (I have all paperwork) and has Hungarian MOT until May 2015. VRT is only 200E.

The engine, gearbox and brakes all function fine and the engine is very sweet and surprisingly quiet and refined. The car drives well and there's no rattles, bangs or nasty noises. These cars are softly sprung and the suspension appears to be in good order.

Steering is also very good and lighter than you'd expect for non-assisted. The interior is in excellent original condition for its age. The seats, like French cars of this era are wide and like big comfy armchairs. These cars are pretty spacious inside and tall drivers are well accommodated. Plenty of head and leg room.

The electrics are very good and all switches, lights, horn wipers etc all work. Heater works brilliantly. The tyres are all legal and the car has original wheels. There's a brand new spare in the boot. The underneath of the car is very solid, except for one area listed below and the car has clearly been undersealed in the past. The main body panels are all very straight and the car has original paint. Battery is fine. Both front and rear chrome bumpers are in very good condition.

Bad bits: There is a small repair needed to the underneath of the boot area on the passenger side, which has a hole in it, but easily sorted. One wheel arch has a small amount (very little) of rust on it, again, easily sorted. There's a couple of isolated rust spots here and there. The drivers and passenger side windows need new winders.

A nice car that's very original inside and out and can be used largely as it is or could be made into a show car without a pile of work. If you go to car shows, you'll be the only one there with one of these. I'm selling the car as I've too many projects and not enough time to do them justice. The Renault 12 was a great car for its time and well engineered with simple, tough mechanicals. Parts are widely available. It's never had a radio fitted so no holes in dashboard or aerial holes in body.

There's 2 sets of keys with the car and original owner's handbooks. The car is an absolute bargain at this money.
