PORSCHE 912 SPORTS COUPE
With the advent of the long awaited new flat-six engined 911, originally previewed in 1963 as the 901 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, (Peugeot intervened in 1964 and caused the model to be re-badged without a zero in the model number) the designated '902' - to become the '912' - soon joined the model range, albeit briefly but nonetheless successfully, with the classic 911's structure and using the 90bhp 1,582cc flat-four ohv engine from the 356C. Using a five-speed gearbox to the 356's four, nearly 31,000 of these underated 912s were built between 1965 and 1968 with all-round disc brakes and a top speed of 120mph and a standing quarter mile of just 18.2 seconds.
