Here we have a very nice example of one of Triumph's best loved middleweight twins, the 3TA or Twenty-One. The 350cc 3TA and 500cc 5TA were Triumph's first unit construction models and also introduced the world to the controversial 'bathtub' enclosure styling that so divided opinion in the day. With the benefit of over 50 years hindsight they are now appreciated as stylish period pieces. So many lost their enclosure panels in the sixties and seventies that original bikes are now prized.

This particular 1961 model has been in my personal collection for the last few years but dodgy hips mean that, like all my bikes, it is being ridden less and less and it deserves to be used. It is a very original and unmolested example, with matching numbers and all its tin ware intact, and it is in very tidy condition. There are a few minor blemishes to the Shell Blue paintwork and chrome but the bike has a lovely patina and is just how I like them. The Monobloc carb was overhauled last spring and a new coil, points and condensor were fitted at the same time. It runs sweetly and is a very comfortable and pleasant machine to ride. It is no road burner but the performance is ample for our country lanes and relaxed club runs. Taxed and tested, it is ready to go.
