Here is a lovely restoration project for the winter: a very original and unmolested example of the legendary BSA D1 Bantam - the bike that put post-war Britain on two wheels. It is a 1953 plunger model, in the famous Mist Green livery, that has had just two owners and has spent all its life in the Bath area. It is a matching numbers bike and it comes with its original green log book, factory guarantee card and running in instructions. Sadly it lost its original number some years ago and is now registered WSY 737, with a current V5C. The Bantam was last on the road in 1997 and it was laid up because of a broken piston ring. It has been in dry storage ever since and remains in remarkably good condition, with complete and very straight tin ware. It will of course need an engine rebuild, following which it could easily be used in its current 'oily rag' form. Alternatively it would be the most straightforward of full rebuilds.

With prices of early Bantams continuing to rise this should be a very worthwhile and rewarding project.
