The last owner (only the second) acquired the vehicle in 2004, in a poor state with the rear rusted away. He set about an eight year restoration, utilising all the useable parts he had, to make it into a light van. The gearbox required a complete rebuild but the engine had survived rather better and needed head gasket and water pump. The front was extensively restored like the original Humber 16/50 with twin mounted spares and the rear (behind the doors) crafted as a van in ply with an ash frame and then covered in metal sheet or fabric. The result is a very useable high quality van that pulls surprisingly well through a four speed gearbox and steers and stops well for its age. This multi-purpose vehicle could be sign written to advertise a business, would be ideal for carrying autojumble or antiques, or throw a mattress in the capacious back and use it as a camper. A unique, charming, and very useable pre-war Humber for £13,750.
