EXTERIOR
This charming A35 delivery van is finished in two-tone Island Blue and Snowberry White and looks amazing and shiny. It provides the perfect backdrop for a highly mobile advertisement for the business it represents as is currently the case with removable transfers. The correct white radiator grille remains undamaged. All the chrome work is bright with only minor aging on very close scrutiny. The delicate wing mounted side lamps are fully functional and intact as is the Austin of England rear badge. Black and silver pressed aluminium plates complete the period look. Structurally perfect.
INTERIOR
This delightful A35 was fitted with the optional passenger and rear seat configuration which has all been expensively reupholstered in the exact black P.V.C coated fabric with latex foam foundation and white piping creating a fantastic look. The interior carpet has been cut to exact fitment but is non-original and should be changed for authenticity. An additional period water temperature gauge has been neatly fitted and other than a temperamental fuel gauge, all controls function perfectly. The spacious rear offers 60 cubic feet capacity which combined with the rear wide opening door offers tremendous versatility. The spare wheel and tools are correctly located beneath the load floor.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This model is the very final variant of the Austin A35 Van known as the type A-AV8 which in the last two years of production, (1966 -1968), was fitted with the Minis 848cc A Series engine. Fun, spirited and nippy combined with brilliant economy and excellent parts availability makes this van a sensible choice. All major engine components have been recently replaced but a little smoke can be seen under hard acceleration. The four speed transmission is a joy to use.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Correct pressed-steel wheels finished in white with original fitment Austin chrome hubcaps are all shod in new 165/70 R13 tyres. Recent brake cylinders, cables and pipes provide safe stopping power.
HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 1st May 1968, (three months after production ceased) this Mk3 Austin A35 light van is one of the final vehicles to roll of the production line. With only four former keepers and written evidence of a recent major rebuild detailing every part replaced this charming example provides a fantastic opportunity into fun classic van ownership. Suitable also for business ventures as a marketing/promotional tool should one wish.
