Every day is a sunny day with this sparkling Mimosa Yellow TR6. One of the things we really enjoy is making a good car even better and we have gone to town on this one, giving it looks to match its performance. It is a car we supplied previously and bought back after it had been in storage for a while. We knew it to be a particularly nice driving car and very solid, but the time off road had not been kind cosmetically. Flat, dull paintwork and mouse-chewed seats are not a good look!

To restore it to its former glory we have treated it to a full respray. As expected, no body repairs were found necessary and it now looks great. Stainless steel beauty rims set off the original steel wheels. The damaged seats were replaced with a Moss Classic high backed leather pair and we have also fitted a new hood. The chrome is in good order and the rest of the interior very smart, with a nearly new carpet set and Mota-Lita wood-rimmed steering wheel.

Mechanically little was needed other than a service and fresh MOT. The history file shows lots of expenditure in recent years, including a Bosch fuel pump conversion, new metering unit, overhauled brakes and stainless exhaust. It has done ten thousand miles since a new clutch and electronic ignition is fitted. Going further back into the history there is documentation detailing a full body restoration c.1988 and the engine and gearbox are said to have been rebuilt at the same time. A thick pile of MOT certificates suggests the current indicated mileage of 100,750 is probably correct, with just 6,000 in the last ten years.

On the road this is one of the best TR6s we have had in recent times. The engine is particularly smooth, with excellent oil pressure and a lovely exhaust note. The gearbox has the typical TR 'rifle bolt' feel and the overdrive engages slickly. There are no nasty clonks from the transmission and it stops and steers just as it should. It is a real pleasure to drive. You will have gathered that we rather like this car and we would be delighted to show you why.
