Introduced with as a replacement to the MGA in 1962, the MGB is an iconic British sports car and survived nearly two decades of production - with the last of the line being produced in October of 1980.

The MGB heralded many new features for the time, chief among which was a monocoque construction method, rather than the traditional panels-on-frame approach. It featured crumple zones to protect the passenger and driver in an impact and it used disc brakes up front, complemented by drums on the rear.

The light weight of the car coupled to a revised B-Series engine (rated at 95 bhp) gave the car a spritely 0-60 of around 11 seconds and a top speed of around 100mph.

In 1965, the revolutionary MGB GT was introduced. Based on the same platform as the roadster, the GT featured a Pininfarina-designed greenhouse and a "hatchback" - very unsual for the time. The most obvious benefits were increased luggage space and the two-seater became a 2+2 thanks to a small bench in the rear. By and large the car was otherwise very similar to the roadster. Acceleration suffered slightly thanks to the increased weight but the top speed improved to 105mph as the new body was found to be aerodynamically better.

Today, the car is a sought-after and affordable classic car. This particular GT was subject to a restoration and rebuild several years ago. Photographs of the rebuild are included with the car's history file, featuring many receipts over many years.

Notably, as a 1968 car, it features the strengthened gearbox from the MGC with full synchromesh and the sought-after overdrive option (available on third and fourth gear). This means the car is both incredibly robust (the same gearbox was later deployed on the MGB GT V8 without any changes), able to keep up with modern traffic and is very frugal by classic standards. Fuel economy in the mid-20s is not unusual at all, this combined with the extra luggage and passenger space making it a genuine GT car. It also benefits from being road tax exempt and would make an excellent "first classic".
