This is my spitfire 1500- it has a soft leather top which can be pulled down to make the car a convertible. It also has a rare Sebrig GT hard top which transorms the look of the car, making it look more like a muscle car and is reputed to be one of two fitted to a 1500 in the country making the car look like a GT6. The car looks stunning both with or without the hard top. These two tops make the car useable all year round. The car is a delight to drive with fast accelleration and fun cornering. I've had the car a year but regrettably having to sell because of a divorce- I can show any potential buyer the inspection report I had done on the car a year ago.
The car was rebuilt about 4 years ago and has only got just over 7,000 miles on the clock since the rebuild. The car was MOT'd three days ago together with the fuel pump being replaced.
The car has had sensible modifications making it suitable for modern traffic conditions. These have resulted in 100 bhp engine, five speed gear box, uprated servo brakes and adjustable suspension. Fully protected by Thatcham Caregory 1 alaram and immobiliser.
The car has a good leather soft top and Sebrig GT style hard top. Also included is an all weather cover, hood bag and tonneau. I've recently serviced the car and whilst in the garage for the MOT, I also had the ignition adjusted and fuel pump an filter replaced.
The highlights are:-
Engine- Rebuilt on a brand new block around 7000 miles ago. New pistons, bearings, etc. Fully balanced and lightened. Stage 4 unleaded head with largened inlet and exhausts valves, fully polished and ported. Kent Fast road cam giving a wide power band from 2500-5500 rpm; fully programmable 3D ignition system (MegaJolt) replacing the distributor; Weber DCoE45 carburettor; new air intake and performance filtere, stainles 4-2-1 exhaust with twin boxes (mainfold heat wrapped); wide band oxygen sensor fitted to aid carb. tuning; new alloy radiator with thermostatically controlled electric fan; facet electric fuel pump, filter and pressure regulator. Oil coller fitted.
Drivetrain- Converted to use a Ford Type 9 5-speed gearbox; uprated clutch.
Brakes- Grooved performance, front discs; ECB brake pads; GT6 master cylinder, Cooper S brake servo; stainless steel braided hoses.
Suspension- Avo adjustable
Bodywork- Aerodynamic Sebrig style GT hard top; fibre glass bonnet, boot lid and valances for reduced weight and corrosion resistance; Wolfrace alloy wheels with Yokohama A539 tyres (steel spare). Vinyl hood, hood bag tonneau.
Other- Central locking, elexctric windows; alarm and immobiliser; Kenwood radio with amplifier and built in speakers.
The car comes with a large history file with reciepts well in excess of £10,000 from the rebuild.
Bad bits- not too many for a 37 year old car but thyere is a scratch on the passenger side where the previous owner dropped something on it. The seats are from an MX with a small tear- these could look better. Slight cracking on the fibreglass gel coat in places.
I'm happy to take serious buyers out for a drive. Payment by cleared cheque or bank transfer before final collection.
