EXTERIOR
This stunning 205 GTI is finished in Rouge Vallelunga and has a beautiful smooth gloss finish. The simplicity and purity of the design is amplified in this striking colour which attracts much attention. The bumpers and protective body mouldings remain undamaged and all the factory fit tinted glass in present. One tiny ding can be seen on the boot pillar and the bonnet has a few minor imperfections on close inspection. All the shut lines are linear and absolutely no corrosion or rust is present. The drivers door has had a smart repair due to a scratch. An amazing survivor in a usable show condition.
INTERIOR
Benefiting from the later model interior revisions this genuine example looks amazing. The Quartet velour seat trim in black and red offers hip hugging support with only a small nick to the drivers plain black side support. All the clear sports dials operate faultlessly as do the push button switches. The red carpeting is clean having been protected by Peugeot rubber floor mats from new. The anthracite headlining is unmarked and the fully trimmed door cards are perfect. A CD player has been fitted to the standard four speaker system. A glorious period hot hatch interior.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A must drive for any car enthusiast is a factory standard Peugeot 205 1.6 GTI. The 1.6 litre engine produces 115BHP at 6250 rpm and 98.4 lb.ft of torque at 4000 rpm which equates in a car only weighing 850 KGS as tremendous fun! Having been well maintained by just a few owners this car drives impeccably. The transmission is the later special close ratio 5-speed BE-3 gearbox with a short 5th to exploit the total power available. Its operation is precise and smooth.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Instantly recognisable light-alloy wheels are unmarked and are shod in quality 185/60 HR14 low profile Pirelli P600 rear and Firestone TZ600 front tyres. The centred chrome polish finish is slightly pitted. Servo assisted front vented brake discs with floating calipers and rear drum brakes with a pressure limiting valve to avoid premature locking provides a braking system which matches perfectly the dynamic character of this car.
HISTORY FILE
Registered on the 28th November 1989 by Mann Egerton & Co Peugeot Dealers in Hunstanton, Norfolk, this car remained local to them with all three former keepers. Regularly maintained up to 2001 when the long term custodian took the decision to store and preserve the car. Having covered only 88,330 miles this example now presents itself freshly serviced and unmolested. All handbooks contained in the black Peugeot A5 wallet including; Owners Guide, Owners Handbook, Maintenance Booklet, Stamped Warranty/Service Record Book, Dealer Location Guide and Reseau Exploration book.
